El paso del tiempo que percibimos de forma lineal y su afectación en la materia es un tema recurrente en mi obra, un trabajo que abordo utilizando distintos soportes y materiales según el momento o el entorno. La vida y la muerte entendidas como un proceso que nos lleva a tomar mayor consciencia de nosotros mismos, más allá de aquello que experimentamos con los sentidos físicos, ese misterio silencioso e inexpresable pero latente y evidente a los ojos del alma es el motor de mi pintura.
La curiosidad de experimentar con diferentes técnicas y materiales me llevó de la figuración al campo de la abstracción. Actualmente vivo la fusión de ambas tendencias.
Mireia Cifuentes nace en la Seu d’Urgell (Lleida) en 1966. Vive parte de su infancia y adolescencia en Marbella. Después de viajar unos años por Asia y Europa establece su residencia en Barcelona en 1992 para dedicarse plenamente a la pintura.
Actualmente es artista residente en el Edificio Freixas.
The passage of time that we perceive in a linear way and its impact on the matter is a recurring theme in my work, a work that I approach using different supports and materials depending on the moment or the environment. Life and death understood as a process that leads us to become more aware of ourselves, beyond what we perceive with the physical senses, that silent and inexpressible mystery but latent and evident to the eyes of the soul is the engine of my painting.
The curiosity of experimenting with different materials led me from the field of figuration to abstraction. Currently I live the fusion of both trends.
Mireia Cifuentes was born in Seu d’Urgell (Lleida) in 1966. She spent part of her childhood and adolescence in Marbella. After traveling for a few years in Asia and Europe, she established her residence in Barcelona in 1992 to dedicate herself fully to painting.
She is currently an artist in residence at the Freixas Building.
